AAA Employees Donate Nearly 615 Toys and Hundreds of Food Items to Families in Need
Phoenix, Ariz., December 19, 2007 – Santa got a little help from AAA this year, and no, it did not involve a tow truck. AAA employees from across the state teamed up to adopt 16 families from Family Service Agency (FSA) this Christmas. In addition to adopting families, staff could also choose to donate individual toys and food items. This resulted in employees donating nearly 615 toys and 1875 food items.
The most popular gifts donated were children’s toys and clothing, with some families receiving gift cards, microwaves and bicycles. Workers who did not adopt a family but chose to donate individual items did so through a separate toy and food drive run by FSA and St. Mary’s Food Bank, respectively.
“It is really inspiring to see our employees come together to help families in need in our community,” said AAA Arizona CEO Jim McDowell, “especially when you consider that this is a time of year when everyone is strapped for cash, shelling out more for gas, vacations and gifts for loved ones.”
