AAA Arizona’s Dare to Prepare Workshop Receives Prestigious Award

Phoenix, Ariz., May 12, 2008 – The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) recently honored AAA Arizona with a Hermes Creative Award. The auto club was recognized by the organization with a Gold Award in the “Community Relations” category for Dare to Prepare, a workshop which aims to prepare parents and new teen drivers for the learning-to-drive process.

“When we began offering this workshop a year ago, we had no idea how fast it would grow and how popular it would become,” said Linda Gorman, public affairs manager for AAA Arizona. “We are honored to receive this award and are looking forward to watching this program continue to grow and spread vital traffic safety messages across the state.”

Since the program's inception, over 500 parents and teens across the state have attended the Dare to Prepare workshop. Of the parents who have attended, over 90 percent plan to implement parent-teen contracts or other suggested driving tools covered in the workshop. Additionally, 94 percent of parent attendees have stated they would recommend the program to others. Of the teens who have attended, 79 percent have stated that as a result of the workshop, they now feel more comfortable discussing driving concerns with their parents.

Dare to Prepare provides parents and teens with critical information they will need to know before teens take the wheel. The workshop explains the steps to obtain a permit and a driver’s license and discusses Arizona’s new graduated licensing laws, which go into effect on July 1, 2008. Additionally, the workshop provides guidance and useful tools to help parents and teens go through the learning-to-drive process.
