AAA Announces Arizona’s Most Trusted Auto Repair Shops

Phoenix, Ariz. June 6, 2008 – When it comes to finding an auto repair facility, not all are created equal, according to AAA. The auto club recently released its seventh annual list of Top Shops, auto repair facilities awarded for providing their customers with honest, reliable and quality service. This year, the auto club is recognizing 20 Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities and three Approved Auto Body facilities throughout the state, six of which are located in the Tucson area.

“We honor these shops for going above and beyond in terms of professional standards, integrity, customer service and community involvement,” said Don Nunnari, vice president of membership products and service for AAA Arizona. “These facilities are truly the best of the best. We are honored to have them as a part of our Approved Auto Repair (AAR) network and to present them with this prestigious award.”

To be considered for the Top Shop designation, facilities must first be a part of AAA’s AAR network, which is comprised of 151 auto facilities across Arizona that must meet more than 20 standards including:

• Providing a list of 200 customers to be surveyed on the shop’s service
• Staffing Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified technicians
• Providing a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty on repair work
• Agreeing to binding arbitration if there is a dispute with an AAA member
• Annual inspection by AAA

Top Shops go even further by:

• Maintaining customer surveys with at least a 90 percent approval rating
  
• Being actively involved in the community through service groups and charities
  
• Upholding an exemplary business reputation

“Being part of AAA’s AAR program has been very important to Airpark Auto Service, as we recognize the trust the general public places in the facilities they endorse, and we take this trust very seriously,” said Nadine Grobmeier, owner of Airpark Auto Service in Scottsdale, which has received Top Shop honors for seven consecutive years. “AAA believes in the same ethical principles that my late husband, Stacey, and I built this company on many years ago and it is with great honor that we continue to participate in their Top Shop program.”

“It’s nice to be recognized for quality work and treating customers fairly. This takes us to a totally different level,” said Jon Bradford, owner of Borst Automotive, Tucson’s longest running Top Shop. “We do a lot of charity work and help with the Gospel Rescue Missions so it is an honor to be recognized as a leader in the community, not just the auto repair industry.”

A chart of this year’s winners is below. The number next to the auto shop’s name indicates the consecutive years the facility has earned the Top Shop award.

AAA Arizona, the Arizona affiliate of AAA, provides automotive, insurance and auto travel services to nearly 800,000 Arizona members.  Annually, AAA’s Emergency Road Service responds to more than 450,000 calls for help on the streets and highways of the state as well as providing insurance, travel, and financial services to AAA members and motorists.  Since its founding in 1927, AAA Arizona has been a leading advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
